Alright I'm going to need an invite! I can sail, cook and dive. Seriously let me know for any ocean crossing, I would love to hang out with you awesome people!
Hey James! So we're not sure yet but we may be looking for crew for some upcoming sails. We don't have any details as of yet but when we get them we'll be posting it on our facebook page first so be sure to like facebook.com\svdelos !
Thanks for taking the time to watch the videos and read the blog!
Hello! We use a GoPro for some of the wide angle sailing shots, a Canon G15 for the underwater shots, and a Canon HFM500 for most of the footage you see. They're all basic, entry level cameras but do the job pretty good for the price. Our editing is done with Adobe Premiere just in case you were wondering.
I stumbled across one of your videos while researching sailboats. That was 3 days ago and I have since seen every video and read every blog and comment. Seriously, I am hooked. You guys are better than any so called "reality" show on TV. I will have to live vicariously thru you guys until I have my kids off to college. I have always said when I retire I will move to a boat and sail the islands, snorkel, scuba, and let the winds blow me where ever. Living in the Gulf Coast of the U.S. I had not thought of sailing the Pacific, just the Caribbean, hmm, you have me wondering. Please keep up the videos, you definitely have a following, I know this week I have told my staff and at least 5 different patients all about your trips and adventures. For those of us that are stuck in the "rat race" with mortgages and student loans and career in general, you guys may be the real success story. If you Googled "Carpe Diem" the Delos and her crew should pop up under images. One request please, I know that it has to be a tremendous effort just to get the videos out there, but, could you help us out with a time frame in the future, like when you stay somewhere for a while when you put up the new video. Somewhere I lost Erin in New Zealand, the hungover kid, Andrew, seemed like a nice kid but I still don't know where he went, I think you left him on a beach somewhere, lol, and I am a huge fan of "Hurricane" Yeoman. Keep her around. ;-) Fair winds and following seas, may you always be blessed with friendly locals and safe travels.
Hello Shane! Thanks so much for the awesome, awesome, awesome comment :) You don't know how much it means to us to know that we can inspire others to what we know is an amazing lifestyle. And of course the best compliment we can get is others spreading the word so thanks so much for that!
Ha too true about the Delos crew changing over the years. Since the beginning of the trip I think we've had about 19 people join us on Delos. Amazing times but I can totally see how the timeline can become a little confusing. We'll work on this!
You guys are awesome! The adventures you guys traverse is awe inspiring. I found you guys a two days ago while looking at some catamarans and then had a nice binge watching session. Now that I've finished, I think I have to get a few buddies to look you guys up and then probably rewatch some of the videos XD. Have fun and sail far because I'm waiting for the next videos and posts!
Hey Zachary! Thanks so much man, really appreciate the comment on our videos :) We're having an absolute blast on this journey, and just trying to capture some of that to share a little bit of this amazing world with others. Really glad that's coming through and you're enjoying watching! We have plenty more content coming so stay tuned!
Once again I am stuck in an airport but your blog really helps the time pass. I have read everything at least twice over the many months. Hard to turn on my computer and not go straight to s/v delos to see what's up. For your followers who can't wait to retire and start "getting out there" I would like to add my opinion that it still may be a multi-faceted challenge. The anchor sets deep the longer your family lives in one community but we keep dreaming and trying in our own way. Thanks for showing us that a dream can come to fruition. Sorry to hear about Karin's grandmother, life goes on, but enjoy your time on terra firma.
Hey Mike! Really happy to hear we can help to pass a little bit of time for you. I completely understand what you're saying. I remember thinking back before leaving Seattle about this, leaving friends and family behind while sailing away was exciting and a little sad at the same time. Now while cruising we experience this a little bit in a different manner. Sometimes after a few months of moving from island to island we begin to crave sitting in once space for a bit. Getting to know the community, the shops, etc. is only something that can really happen when you sit. So I guess what I'm trying to say is it's always a bit of a balance, like most things. After sitting for a bit you want to say for a bit, and vice versa.
We are now in Sweden, enjoying the cool weather and delicious food! Fair Winds, and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.
Way to be! My boyfriend and I are learning how to sail this weekend, and will be headed out in a few years! Your videos show us a glimpse of what we are looking forward to! After I hiked the Pacific Crest Trail this year, I realized nature and the simplicity of life is just way better than anything else! Maybe we'll run into you one day and we can laugh at this comment. There's only the chance of the entire world, which would make it even funnier. ;) HAPPY SAILING!
Hey Megan- Congratulations, that's awesome! I'm sure the lessons will be amazing, there is nothing quite like catching the wind :) Thanks you so much for the nice comment, means a lot to us. The world is not really as big as it seems. It's full of amazing people, and we run into them all the time so hope we have a chance to cross paths!
