The Delos crew departs Bundaberg to begin the 700 mile cruise North to Cairns. We explore the Great Barrier Reef and islands along the Queensland coast making stops at Lady Musgrave, Whitsunday's, and Magnetic island before arriving in Cairns after an awesome 2 week trip.
Wow guys...you are setting the bar too high for us mortals!
ReplyDeleteOutstanding video. You are seriously approaching professional level editing and content. Wonderful...makes me want to drive North and get started on Trim right now.
Looking forward to the next issue of Delos!
WAAAA! Can't see it in the USA, getting this message:
ReplyDeleteThis video contains content from WMG, BMG_Rights_Management, UMG, The Harry Fox Agency, Inc. (HFA), EMI, Kobalt Music Publishing and [Merlin] Ninja Tune Ltd, one or more of whom have blocked it in your country on copyright grounds.
Well unfortunately we had to remove the Miami Horror song. Apparently their label thinks our sailing videos are some kind of a threat to the music industry. Hopefully it should work now but let me know if not!
DeleteBrian,
ReplyDeleteIt seems that the sound track you are using is interleafed with copyright info that prevents the content from being viewed in the USA..
Yo Ken! Should be fixed now (hopefully). Can you get a few of your mates in the US to give it a shot?
DeleteHi Brian,
ReplyDeleteI think the shot of Brady up the mast had him hanging from a snap shackle. That's a really bad idea if I saw correctly. If you snag it on a bit of rigging, it can pop open. If you must use a snap shackle, then tape it closed. Best practice is to tie a bowline to your bosun's chair/harness and then snap the shackle to the same ring.
Otherwise I really enjoyed the video of course! What are you using for underwater videos?
Best,
Evan

Hey Evan,
DeleteThanks for watching the videos! We have a lot of fun putting them together I know what you mean about the snap shackle but what isn’t shown in the shot is the actual climbing harness and 2nd halyard that’s taking the weight! We always go up with two harnesses (rock climbing gear and bosun's chair to carry tools) on two different halyards for safety, but do appreciate that advice in any case.
For underwater video we have been using a Canon G12 with the standard underwater housing. It does a pretty good job for a mid-range camera. There are also a few shots from a Go-Pro in the underwater housing but it really doesn’t do as well as the Canon underwater. I think it needs much more light to perform. A lot of the sailing shots over the side are done with the Go-Pro which works really well for that sort of thing.
We have been working on the videos cruising from Cairns to Darwin so stay tuned!
Cheers,
Brian
